Day 2

If you’re kinda wondering what this is all about, click here.

I’ll be feeling todays riding tomorrow, that’s for sure.  Around 11am I looked outside and upon noticing how nice it was and with the forecast of decent weather decided I just had to get out.

And out as well as about I did get.  From home at 11th and Rockwood  rode to Huckleberries, then to a friends at 7th and Maple.  The next destination was Main Market Co-Op downtown, down the hill to the river at Peoples Park and back up the hill to a BBQ at 33rd and Post.  Rested, ate, drank beer then off for the bike fitting at 8th and Maple.

Now, let’s talk about the fitting of the bicycle.  Back in September of 2008 my trusty well used and favorite bike was stolen.  I really was heartbroken.   A LOT of miles and almost 10 years of riding was on that bike and it fit me perfectly.

Luckily, I was able to obtain an outstanding touring bike from Pedals To People (P2P).  It’s a great bike.  A Bruce Gordon at first I thought it fit me perfectly.  A year or so of riding  has revealed a few difficulties.  Primarily pain in the hands, wrists and shoulders.

So Greg, having recently been expertly fitted for his bicycle decided to make me his guinea pig.  And I’m glad he did.  He measured, got angles, and even used a construction level.  We ended up lowering the saddle almost 2 inches and shortened the handle bars 1 1/2 inch at each end.   One issue that we found is that I am way too far forward.  That fix will necessitate a trip to either P2P or a local bike shop.  I’ll report back in future posts as we journey forward and let ya’ll know how the fitting effects my riding.

The acquisition of a cycling computer will now enable me to track raw mileage rather than listing destinations (unless they’re really cool).

So, that’s it for day 2.  Overall a fun ride filled day.

Till later,

Who Loves Ya?
