When Good Days Go Bad

Sigh!

Saturday the 20th turned out to be a pretty bad day.

I came home from the Fire Department to find an oddly empty front porch.  What’s odd about an empty front porch you say?  Well, normally there’s two bicycles locked together on it.  Uh oh!

Yep, you guessed it. My beloved UPS truck of a bicycle has been stolen.  I’m really not into having things at all. I can honestly fit most of what I own in a mini-van.  But my bicycle was one of the very few things I value. I’ve had it a little over 10-years now and probably put 8,000 miles on it.  It also is was my primary mode of transportation.  I went everywhere on it all year round.   Because that one bike (albeit a bit heavy) fit all my needs it’s all I had.  Speaking of heavy, I made a recent post about how heavy it was with all my gear.  Just before this incident I was cleaning out the panniers and found no less that 15-pounds of rocks inside.  A great joke was played on my by one of my friends.  I now wish I would have left them in there, maybe it would have slowed down that @%^&!* that stole it.

But it doesn’t end there, nope.

Later that evening BrightSpirit and I were over at Steve and Peacheng’s  house drowning my sorrows in beer with some of the rest of our friends playing a really fun rambunctious game called spoons. BrightSpirit jumped up and grabbed a spoon.  When she did, she knocked over her chair and the momentum of pulling the spoon made her lose her balance and she fell back striking her head on the overturned chair.

Lost consciousness for a few moments, huge gash in the back of her head.  Ambulance, fire department and emergency department visit.  In the short, CT scan (no brain injury thankfully), stitches and a “decent” concussion. She has no recollection of the fall and now a little over 12-hours later is still a bit loopy.

Well, at least this post is keeping in the theme of things.  Bicycles and beer.

Till later,

Jacque – Out

P.S.  I feel a little better after posting this ad.

  2. Jacque I was excited to see your first post in a week . . . until I opened it. Wow, when you have a bad day, you don’t mess around. Sorry on both accounts. Glad to hear that the CT results were good. Head injuries scare the krap out of me.

Loved your ad though. Thanks for the laugh.

  3. I hope you at least have your working computer back. What a horrible day.

Condolences on both accounts….know how it feels to have a beloved friend stolen. Also know how it feels to have the poor brain beaten from within, due to a couple of car accidents. So healing to you both……

  5. I’m sorry to hear about BrightSpirit’s accident and those bikes thieves should both get shingles and hemorrhoids and migraines. I hope she is feeling better and taking a few days off.
